This course aims to equip students with related concepts and theories of international relations that can analyse international politics in Southeast Asia, in particular to the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). It will introduce the students to international politics of mainland Southeast Asia, international relations with superpowers, including Japan, China the US, India, and South Korea. This course focuses on how the international and regional transformation shaped GMS and how this transformation impacts Thailand’s economy and politics. It also aims to introduce how Thailand Eastern Economic Corridors (EEC) was shaped by the regional environment and how the EEC will shape Thailand relations with its neighbouring countries and superpowers.
